The potential of you and me
It’s like a book elegantly bound
But in a language you can’t read…
Just yet”

The first cause I've cared about. Ever.

cassg08:

So I was going through the paper just now, something I actually never do, so this was a rare ocassion, and saw a tiny section about the National Youth Jazz Orchestra facing bankruptcy.

According to this miniscule article, the orchestra needs £105,000 by April. This sounds like a lot of money to you and I, but if we pull together, we can make it happen. It’s not actually very much, and the government could afford to pay that, the budget DOES stretch that far, it’s nothing to them, but they never will.

We have complaints constantly about the youth culture in this country being so centred around violence, but how are we to fix the issues in this country if every positive outlet in this world is being slowly destroyed?

The orchestra costs £200,000 a year to run, £60,000 of which comes from the Arts Council England and the Musicians Benevolent Fund. £140,000 is nothing.

I beg of you to help me to help this cause. I’m not even sure what I want to do yet, but I want to do something. Music is my life, and I know it means a lot to others, too.

If you don’t even see music like I do, you can still appreciate the effect it has on so many. Help? Somehow?
